7 Days at Nyungwe National Park

Day 1: Arrival

Arrival at Kigali International Airport. After completion of customs and immigration formalities you will be met at the airport by ONE WORLD TRAVEL & TOURS representative, briefing on your trip and introduction to your Safari driver guide. Thereafter transfer to your hotel.

Overnight: Mille Collines Hotel (Bed & Breakfast)

Day 2: Day Leisure in Kigali at Mille Collines

Full day leisure at the hotel and around Kigali / Relax at the Hotel, Massage, Pedicure and manicure for Ladies and Visit the barber shop for Gentlemen.

Day 3: Kigali – Butare – Nyungwe National Park

After breakfast, drive to Nyungwe National Park Via Butare; a rainforest reserve of Nyungwe at an altitude range of between 1600 M-2950 M above sea level with temperatures varying between 0°C and 30° C; average day temperatures 15°C. Nyungwe receives rainfall ranging 1800-2500 mm per year.
Rainy season is September to May, Dry season June to August with some dry weeks in December and January, the main features and attractions in Nyungwe forest include largest montane rain forest remaining in Africa, Mt. Bigugu (2925M), Kamiranzovu marsh (13 Km²).

Nyungwe forest has 260 species of trees and shrubs and Over 100 species of orchids and giant lobelias. For those interested in botany, the flora in Nyungwe comes as an added bonus. Visit the National Museum and King’s Palace. Lunch in Butare thereafter proceed to Nyungwe National park.

Day 4: Nyungwe Forest NP– Chimps

Depart after early breakfast for a hike into Nyungwe Forest in search of Chimps. There is a lot of more in Nyungwe than just chimps. Colobus monkeys, mangabeys, various other primate species plus lots of forest dwelling birds will be encountered on the way. For those interested in botany, the flora in Nyungwe comes as an added bonus, lunch at the lodge afternoon at leisure.

Day 5: Nature walks in Nyungwe National forest

After breakfast at the Lodge, you will then enter the forest for a nature walk. Lunch at the Lodge Overnight: One & Only Nyungwe House. (Full Board)

Day 6: Nyungwe forest NP-canopy walk

After breakfast Visit the canopy walk. The Canopy Walkway is 50 meters above the ground level, and 200 meters long, above a steep, deep valley, that affords the clients the dizzying platform from which to be at the eye-to- eye level with different primate species, and many bird species, all of which
are fond of inhabiting the upper scales of the forest.
